The course of the Rio Piovano can be taken in ascent or descent. Choosing the descent, in order to start the itinerary it is necessary to undertake the road between farms that ascends from Tavagnasco to the Santa Maria MaddalenaaiPiani chapel. At the altitude of the farmhouses of Lower Usseglio (1112 m) you leave the road between farms and passing downstream from the homes you can enter the pathway that brings to the Salero grange. In approximately 15’ you reach the descent itinerary. The descent, very technical, requires knowledge of canyoning, using safety equipment and ropes for rappels for the vertical segments and use of rappels.
