The pathway skirts along the Maresco di Bienca, a lake watershed that during the Roman Era was used to bring water from the hill towards the city of Ivrea. The ruins of the Roman aqueduct are still partially visible: the outside is made with split stones and mortar, the inside instead is made of “cocciopesto” (crumbled bricks mixed with lime).
